Rimmer
Violent Crazed Drunk Attacks Foreigner & Police in Pattaya PATTAYA: -- A violent crazed taxi/mini-bus driver attacked a foreigner before targeting abuse and threatening assault on Royal Thai Police officers in Pattaya on Monday. The man was in an extremely intoxicated state along Pattaya's Beach Road. Pattaya, the 5th of July 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 1:00am, Lieutenant Colonel Klitsakorn Thongin (Pattaya Police Deputy Superintendent) along with police Captain Somchai Chaikhananukoon (Pattaya Police Investigator) and a team of officers were patroling in front of Pattaya Police Station when they heard an altercation erupt nearby. Resultant investigations found that a mini bus taxi driver, parked in front of the Centralfestival Pattaya Beach, had assaulted a foreign tourist, hitting him in the face. The foreigner subsequently reported the incident to police who were sent to investigate with the taxi driver as to the nature of the altercation. Lumumba
The regular force called in the volunteer force to take down the Baht bus driver. Someone explain please.
laurentbkk
If the taxi drivers start to beat farang tourists they will go in other countries.... Better to control those drivers for alcohol testing .
asiawatcher
And if the Farang had retaliated he would have been jumped on by Baht Bus Mafia and any other Thai who would have been in the same state and beaten to a pulp! Oh well, live or stay in Pattaya what do you expect at 1:00am in the bar areas? And has the offender been arrested, or at least charged at this point? craigt3365
Yup, with no regular testing...or even enforcement of existing laws...these guys get away with whatever they want. I have been with a few tuk tuk drivers that could barely walk. Of course I was in about the same state, so at the time, it didn't really matter... animatic
The regular force called in the volunteer force to take down the Baht bus driver. Someone explain please. The volunteers are BIG, being farangs themselves. This guy was too out there even for the muaytahi trained BiB. Lao kao and yabaa intoxication; It's a life style choice. Just not a long one. Valdezugar
Nothing on why the foreigner got smacked? Maybe they were both drunk and the one offender the other and got klapped?
Apecks
Baht bus drivers are complete scum! Beaten only by the theives aka motorbike taxi drivers. No suprise that the guy did not get charged for assaulting the farang! TIT
yesdavy
Since the foreigner might not understand the concept of tea money, we are likely to see an update that the foreigner was jailed for using his face to strike the fist of a respected Pattaya chauffeur. tonywebster
The regular force called in the volunteer force to take down the Baht bus driver. Someone explain please. Did you read the report? It clearly says the volunteers assisted, as in assisted the regular police, and anyone with a police background will tell you that the more officers involved when dealing with a violent person the less chance there is for injury to that person or the officers dealing with it. DickFarang
Baht bus drivers are complete scum! Beaten only by the theives aka motorbike taxi drivers. No suprise that the guy did not get charged for assaulting the farang! TIT The original text says a “taxi/mini-bus”; it is not clear if a metered taxi or a bahtbus (sorngtaew) is meant. Anyway, I live in Pattaya and up to now I never had problems with bahtbus or motorbike taxi drivers.
