Dermabrasion For Acne Scars - Doctor Recommendations?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have moderate rolling scars on my face from acne as a teenager. I've tried laser treatments like Cooltouch and Erbium Yag which improved my skin slightly. I'm now ready for dermabrasion to smoothen my face a bit more. I'm from Singapore and intend to fly to Thailand for this sometime in August.

So far I've found 2 Thai doctors on the internet who perform dermabrasion.

1. Dr Somsak Kunachakr - http://www.surgery-cosmetic.net/cosmetic-treatments-and-procedures.htm

2. Dr Somyos Kunachak - http://www.laser-surgery-bangkok.com/scars.htm

Any advise about dermabrasion with these 2 doctors, or any other Thai doctor? Price, competency etc etc. Thanks!

I honestkly don't know. Microdermabrasion is being offered everywhere but if course not the same. I find that most of the clinics are neother experienced nor comfortable doing peels, resurfacing and the like and rather try to push packages of less invasive (but also kless effective) treatments.

Has a doctor specifically recommedned dermabrasion to you? Surely you could get this doen in Singapore??

I suggest you email the following hospitals: Bumrungrad, Samitivej, BNH. Enclose a photoc of the scars. For Bumrungrad you might also message TV member Scott, nick is "Bumrungrad".

Thanks for the reply!

Nope, dermabrasion is not done anymore in Singapore. It's more invasive but the results are better. You're right in that doctors always pimp out their laser packages. Which was why I spent lots of money on them. I did have small improvement from lasers so I didn't totally waste my money.

Just emailed the hospitals with my photos. Hope they reply soon enough. :)
