Oman Tourist demands meeting with Pattaya Mayor after alleged theft by Taxi driver

PATTAYA: -- On Thursday Afternoon an Omani Tourist went to Pattaya City Hall and angrily demanded a meeting with the Pattaya Mayor following an incident where he claimed to have been tricked out of 80,000 Baht by a Taxi Driver. On Wednesday Mr. Ahmed Haidar aged 42 had come to Pattaya from the Morchit Bus Terminal in Bangkok by Taxi. He only remembers that the Taxi was Green in color but he was not able to remember the license plate number. The crucial details are missing: how exactly did he lose the 80K THB? Surely he would have been able to give his side of the story.

This is some of the worst journalism I have ever read. Soon we may see an article titled "British tourist angry" without stating anywhere in the article why and what he actually did.

Expect to see allot more such complaints such as these...on my most recent nites out over the past few weeks, at least 50% of the punters in the bars have been of Middle Eastern or South Asian extraction. Cultural miscues and language barriers for many of them (more the Meddle Easterners here) will cause much grief both for them and for the Thais who have to deal with them in stores and restos and the bargirls who entertain them.

I can understand what he meant by the poor service at the Pattaya Police Station. I recently went there to make a report and the foreign police volunteer gave me a ticket and told me where to sit to wait. I sat in the front row, directly in front of the officer concerned for 30 minutes and when it was my turn he said : " I no speak English !"

I can see where this is going...

Pattaya Mayor say's nothing to do with me as it was a Bangkok Taxiwhistling.gif

Anyone carrying that sort of wedge is aan idiot. Seems a lot of BS to me. The only interest for the BIB is to find out who did it and take a cut.

He looks the sort of quality middle eastern tourist that carries 80000 baht around on his person ,or did he mean 800 baht
