Getting Rid Of Ie

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have about a 4 year old laptop with genuine XP.

I do not like Internet explorer at all, but its an integral part of the package.

I do some trading and use an MT4 charting platform. The problem is that everytime I want to save an image of a chart, IE opens automatically and displays the image. This takes about 20 or 30 seconds and is really annoying. Often IE refuses to close when I click on the X. The image is saves as a JPEG on my computer, so I really don't want this. If I click on the saved image it will open with windows picture and fax viewer, not IE

On my desktop, also with XP the image opens automatically with windows picture and fax viewer, but this is quick and I don't mind this.

When I go to Control panel - Add remove programs, and click on IE8, there is no option to remove the program.

Anyone have any suggestions as to either get rid of IE or how to change it so that the images open with another program by default. I have been unable to find anything on the charting platform to allow me to do this.

Many thanks

I forget how it is done on windows but look for default settings for type files and change from open with IE to what you want IE can be there and not used by default.

go to tools>folder options>file types and scroll down to the one that you want to change.
