Hotels In Penang For Disabled

Featured Replies

I must go on January to Penang for a Visa Run by car from Phuket. I need a wheelchair, and on an online booking site picked two hotels advertised as having "rooms for disabled".

They are the Berjaya Georgetown, and the Cititel.

I also can walk a little and I'm not worried about the rooms, but I'm afraid that there are steps to get to the lobby from the garage and from the street.

I wrote to hotels and to the online booking site but it seem they just ignore me.

The obvious would be to search for another hotel, but from the pictures and the description it seems that there are no steps and I learned in my life that being too proud sometimes is not a good solution.

Anybody been there?

After enduring some offensive remarks, and wondering if it is really worth the effort, lopburi made me see the light.

Yes it is worth it to help on the forum.

No I won't put up with any more from the poster involved.

Thanks Lopburi. I needed that.

I may be getting senile but have not a clue what this is about. Is there another lopburi now? Or does this belong on another thread? Or to another person? Sounds as if from a thread I have not read.

Thanks Lopburi, but if I tell my wife I want to pay 65 $ for a room, she is ready to carry me up the stairs with the wheelchair.

Where you see the competition of best hotel for disabled? Maybe in lower ranks there are also the hotels I'm interested in.

Try the above link for a little information about the two hotels you mentioned. The Evergreen award information was on the English version of the web page for that hotel but for some reason you get Chinese when go direct.

Understand $65 may be high but it would be a sure bet. Cititel was just compleated and selling for about 100MR last time I was in that area of town but it seemed to be on a steep upgrade to entrance if my memory is right. That may be faulty information or just do to the construction going on.

Ah, ah you find me everywhere!

It was my post on Virtualtourist.

:D

They refer to Berjaya, but I'm searching also the possibility that the lobby could be accessible from the garage. I also think it's crazy they say they have a "room for disabled" but the disabled cannot reach the room.

Thank you anyway, I'm going to insist also with the online booking sites. If they want my money they have to work and and find something for me.

Thought it sounded like what you were asking here but didn't read it close enough to be sure. :o

Would suggest phone call to either agent or hotel for information as email response is not a strong suite in this area (as I guess you have found out).
