Obviously within forum rules of course :P

Go on, air your frustrations.

May I stick in a guidance rule.. No slagging off/fighting with other members because of their rant/vent. Some things..even petty things..are like the straw on the camels back. Let this be the neutral zone to air even the petty stupid stuff. :D

COMPLAINERS (ok..lol at the irony..seeing as im ranting/complaining now). ok ok.."CONSTANT" complainers. The ones who LOVE to have your ears bleeding at every opportunity. The ones who make you wonder if they have been trained in Japanese torture techniques ...painful..slow..mental..brain death...

Tuna sandwiches.

Why is it that Thai's seem unable to make a simple tuna sandwich: Tuna (oddly enough), Mayo, pepper (to taste) and cucumber (optional)

Sooooo simple, one of the simplest sandwiches known to humanity but still it is just too much for them. They simply MUST insist upon adding all sorts of other crap like vegetables so that the sandwich tastes of anything but tuna.

I hope my rant will suffice.

I can't stand tuna and mayo sandwiches with no ONION! (is that an acceptable, but unoriginal, rant?) :D

I agree that onion is a reasonable addition to the fore-mentioned culinary delight.

That's it then. Mods please close the thread, all rants over....................

Can't stand these people who are always on about FOOD!

How this should be included in a recipe, that excluded.

Just shove it darn yer gob 'n enjoy it.

Fussy tarts, probably never eaten rat or snake. Maybe not even dog.

Not quite. Tuna sandwiches must NEVER include sugar, as is so common in EVERYTHING here in LOS. :bah:

my buddy, Michael, likes tuna fish sandwiches. I'm abivilant to them because I have so much fish at home. Michael likes a cafe near the Airport Plaza in Chiang Mai. It's just a short distance towards the airport from the Plaza, and on the same road.

My only complaint with thaivisa is they have a different cut-n-paste system than other forums when typing. People don't bother me. The more excentric ones are rather fascinating. I just ignore constant complainers.

People who post about good food, but give vague directions and no name for the restaurant, REALLY pizz me off! :D

By the way, Butter is Better in CM has good Tuna salad sandwiches with onions and sugar free mayo!

How can anyone put sugar in mayo?

My blender accepts some lime juice, an egg, mustard, curry powder and EVOO slowly drizzled in. Some salt sometimes.

Those little bloody tuna sandwiches in the Thai Airways Gold Star Alliance lounges around the country have to rate amoungst the worst in the world. And what's more they wrap them in that f##king plastic wrap that makes them almost impossible to open.

i have to have sweetcorn in my tuna/mayo sandwhich, only way to eat

That explains a lot. :whistling:

There's nothing more annoying than people who make lousy tuna salad and claim it's yummy. :bah:

Here's how it's done:

1 hardboiled egg for every 2 cans of tuna

2 tbs of mayo for every 1 tbs of Miracle Whip (gives it tartness)

A goodly proportion of:

green onion

celery (tuna salad must have crunchability)

chopped dill pickle

A tad of mustard (secret ingredient)

A squirt of lemon juice

Black pepper to suit

I can at will produce any number of Thais who would willing give me resounding endorsements!

:licklips:

Yes, it truly is that good!

Firstly, why do Americans (and Ian) call it tuna fish? It is fish, it is tuna, it is not "tuna-fish". Is there snapper-fish, trout-fish, salmon-fish?

A good tuna sandwich will consist of fresh crusty bread, lashings of butter, finely chopped spring onions (but don't over-do them), a sprinkle of chilli powder and pepper, a few leaves of corriander and a few drops of lime juice. No mayo, no corn,....a single lettuce leaf or a few sprigs of baby spinach or mescaline, or some wafer thin cucumber is allowed.

To be really fussy, one must buy the right brand of tinned tuna......fat oily tuna is usually more expensive but worth it.

I prefer a crusty roll (6" - 9" long) to slices of bread.

The spring onion stalks are better than the corb.

Not tried the baby spinach, but Chinese cabbage s very similar.

The comments on the mayo before were on the composition of the mix, not recommending it for a tuna sandwich.

The bit about tuna-fish - same as the "Paris - France" thingy. When all those younger sons, indentured labourers and religious fanatics were exported to the colonies, their lack of imagination led them to name their new homes after their old places (from where they had had to leave, as they were less than welcome back home). Thus there is only one real Cambridge, but another was created in Massawotsits and so we have "Cambridge - England" to identify it from all fake Cambridges.

You'll note that we Brits don't do this - in golf we have "The Open", whereas the septics have the "US Open" and so on. Same in tennis - you have the Australian Open, the yanks have the US Open - we have Wimbledon.

Don't know why Ian is babbling on about tuna, though. Would have thought he lived on salmon. But maybe he's a kind guy and leaves them for the bears.

People who order from the menu and then go on to change the entire damn meal to something else entirely.

People with colds who sit next to you and breathe on you. Go sit somewhere else, cheers.

Drivers who must pull in front of you (and there is nobody behind you) only to turn 50 meters down the road.

isaan, the great debate!

along with sin bloody sod threads.

This is another great way to build up post numbers.

Can't let TUNA get away.

What is a can of tuna?

A big fish boiled to <deleted> until all flavour is gone.

Next process is flavour added so people will "love" tuna.

Best tuna is eaten raw, marinated many ways.

Steaks on the barbie.......yummmmy.

Canned tuna is crap for mentally brainwashed people.

NOT allowed in my house, should be banned, just a big con job.

I really dislike it when people who know eff all insist that they know everything.

Sometimes one has to be satisfied with what one can get.

In Libya, in the early eighties, there was canned tuna and rice in the supermarkets. As the gov't had closed all other shops, the three supermarkets in Benghazi and the five in Tripoli were the only place to get food. There was also tea and sugar. That was it. Full stop. Nowt else.

So now I know umpteen ways of serving canned tune with rice.

And both Tripoli and Benghazi are on the shores of the Mediterranean, where there is an abundance of fresh fish. But not allowed to go out in boats, not allowed to sell anything.

Things eased off after about 1984, but by that time I had managed to get permission to import food for my 500+ workers, so we were alright. The first year or so was very bad, though.

I like good meaty fresh fish, but in some parts of the world one has to make do with whatever is available.

I don't eat tuna in sandwiches. I eat it as steaks... If I want fish sandwiches I use a jar of my smoked salmon. I mix it with diced, sweet red pepper and a bit of mayonaise.

It doesn't hurt to throw a few fresh prawns and garden grown salad into the mix.

I've never heard of smoked salmon in a jar. We used to buy it straight from the smokerie in Scotland in a great big slab. Or the off cuttings for toast or pasta.

Salmon - Lax, as I have known it most of my life, the acme of fish.

Smoked lax is one of my fave snacks.

Such a versatile fish, and actually a healthy choice.

Smoked sliced lax does come in a jar....... or usual shrink wrap, not as good as freshly sliced.

A good tuna sandwich will consist of fresh crusty bread, mescaline...

This really does explain a lot. :o
