SRIRACHA: -- A collision of a pick with an oncoming train at Sriracha, just outside Pattaya, has left one person dead and another severely injured

Sriracha, 27th of July, 2010[PDN] At 11.30 am, Police Lieutenant Colonel Sawek Rattanakiet (Sriracha Police Investigator) was notified of an accident that had occurred involving a pickup and a train carrying empty gas bottles at the Hin Pern Rail Way junction, Moo 6, Sriracha, Chon Buri, which resulted in the death of one person and severe injuries to another. Subsequently, the officer along with Sawang Prateep Thammasathan Foundation team went to investigate.

Trains and level crossing accidents are always fatal. In this day and age, trains crossing traffic areas is insanity. However I will bet the circumstances will be some form of alcohol involved.

^especially as it's hardly a high speed rail link.

btw trains/vehicles accidents are not always fatal and level crossings have been around as long as road transport before even motor cars. Apart from the odd technical glitsch with automated crossings the problem invariably lies with that very defective component in all motor cars.
