I'm thinking of buying a LED tv which can be connected to Internet via home wifi network. Firstly are any such TVs available? If yes which models? Where to buy? How much? Do you need extra equipment? Any suggestions?

I suggest you to buy Samsung LED TV. There is a few model that can connect to WIFI network. You can buy it at Powerbuy in Central Department Store. Anyway you should aware about Samsung Customer Services, it is not good. ; )

Agreed, i bought a Samsung TV and couldn't get the VGA hookup working. Went to the service center at Fortune tower and they were extremely unhelpful. After 10 minutes of run around they said i needed a special VGA cable that i had to buy from them...but oh..we don't have any, try back to 2 or 3 weeks..."Next please"

Went to one of the stores next door and bought a variety of different VGA cables (who know there was even different kinds of VGA cable, my Sharp TV works with any). One of the "Super VGA" cables that i bought worked...no thanks to the Samsung service center at all.

I just used to plug my base unit into a HDTV with a HDMI cable and it was great. Obviously the computer needs to be hooked up to the internet.

There is a longish thread in the AV subforum with lots of details re: TV options, although I'm not sure the LAN/WiFi/internet issues has been discussed.

What is it that you want to do, specifically? Some new TV's connect directly to the internet but I'm not sure if those services (like Hulu) are available here?

Many TV's can be connected to a PC, either as a display option (via a DVI connection from a graphics card) or via LAN/USB in order to play AVIs.

Actually the idea to buy a new tv came to me because I wanted to subscribe to true's IPTV channels. They said they would need to run a LAN cable from my router to the TV.

The router is placed in my bedroom from where I work and the TV is in the living room.

Firstly, I dont like the idea of having too many cables criss crossing my condo and secondly my old tv (Samsung by the way and been using it for more than 12 years without a single hitch) does not have a input jack for LAN cable.

So if I could upgrade to a TV which can connect to my wifi connection (without using cables - for example using a built-in antenna like in laptops) then I would subscribe to the IPTV and not to mention the benefits of a better and HD pictures.

Are there any other iptv providers in Thailand beside True?

Many IPTV applications utilize a set-top box, which would take in ethernet (wired, 802.3 from your router) and output standard video which could be connected to any TV, including your existing model, so maybe no need for a new TV?

Oh! I did not know that... I guess I need to ask more questions from True. Thanks for your advice. You have probably saved me tones of money I would otherwise have spent on a tv I didn't need.
