Was just thinking & trying to see if any of you know why we would pray with 3 joss sticks??

Is there a meaning to the number 3?

I hate to be labelled as "joss-stick Buddist" if you know what I mean..

In Thailand it's often said that the three incense sticks pay homage to the Triple Gems: Buddha, Sangha, Dhamma.

When lighting the candles I like to think..."May I become enlightened and help enlighten other beings"

when i light the incense I think "May the frangrence of my virtue pervade every aspect of my being"

when I place the flowers I reflect on their short life of beauty demonstrating impermanence.

I like that.
