I bought a condo and have the chanok in my name under 'Foreign ownership' regulations.

I never got around to updating the 'house book' until now.

If I include my wife's name in the house book, would there/could there be any legal ramifications if there were ever "trouble at the mill" and we parted company?

(just trying to c.m.a.) :whistling:

Thanks, in advance.

I take it you our legally married not village buddha. Thailand does not recognize common law.. If so if she is in the house book it just give her more ammo to use on you and you would have to give her 50%. At the same time she would not need to be in the HB for that reason. At the same time her being in the HB can make her life allot easier from a technical stand point.

House book has nothing to do with property ownership or 50/50 split upon divorce. It's all about when the condo was purchased, before or after marriage, and whether or not it's a marital asset. The house book just registers who legally lives at a particular address, just make sure that the wife is not listed as 'master' of the property.

agree, Tabien Baan/registerd residents not connected to ownership in any way.

If she is registered resident, or even worse 1st registered resident (master), she does not need to leave condo if divorce is brought to court.

If she is not registered, the registered owner (in Chanote) decides who lives in Condo until divorce is settled.
