Hi All

I'm looking for a hot water heater that will give me a hot shower or, as well a hot bath.

I have only seen hot water systems that have one outlet and that is to have a shower. As I recall hot water systems back home they had a tap that gave the option of of either one or the other. I just want a system that will be easy to screw onto the wall above the bath.

Anyone have experience with this.

If anyone is in the Nakhon Sawan area and has info it would be appreciated but also its no problem for me to go to Bangkok to buy one and carry it back here.

Most people here just use an instantaneous hot water heater which is a rectangular electric or gas operated device you screw to wall above bath and has a shower spray/hose attached. These sell for between 2-5,000 baht and you can buy in any Big C, Lotus, Makro or building supply place or hardware store. If you use electric make very sure it is grounded and if gas that you always have open windows in bathroom to vent it.

Sharp do one which heats the water and then can be connected to as many faucets as you want. Cost about 5000 baht.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I think it is just a normal shower unit but with a pressure relief valve so that it can be used with closed faucets.

Many units are called "multi point" and use flow sensor to turn heater on and off. I find it better to have sink in range of the shower hose myself and just use that for a shave water supply as want it much hotter than normal shower setting so need to adjust temp setting.

I think your issue is plumbing. If your shower and bath are plumbed on the same water line, connect the heater to that water line at a point before the water line branches to the shower and tub and they both will have hot water.

If you tub and shower are plumbed separately, you will need two heaters. They are so inexpensive and removable when you leave, two heaters is not out of the question.

I have kitchen sink, shower and bath lav all on one heater, but I built my houe so those units were all plumbed on the same water intake line at the time of construction.

If your bath is already in and the shower and bath faucet are not integrated, ie, you have a pull up valve on the shower spigot that causesthe water to divert from the spigot to the showr, then perhaps a surface mount water pipe addition might be required.

We installed a large-capacity electric water heater on the wall next to the bathtub; there were already connections there from prior renter. Usually, I just have the hose and shower head mounted on the wall bracket above the tub, and I shower in the tub. When I want a hot bath, which is often, I lower the shower head (on its hose) into the tub and fill the tub with hot water.

I paid slightly over 4,000 baht for a National model H6BS1, which had 6,000 watts of power. I bought it a large urban dealer who sells new Toyotas, Honda bikes, and every kind of electric home appliance. The mechanics from the store promptly came over and installed it for about 250 baht!

My condo is 9 stories below the water tank, so the pressure was too great. During the warranty period, it caused some internal part to malfunction. We then installed another set of exterior valves that only get turned on when we use the heater. Been working fine now for almost two years. I'll take it with me when I move.
