I am trying to buy a small metal coiled spring in Chiang Mai.

It should be about 7 inches long, but that is not a big deal, as it can be cut.

It should be about 1/2 inch wide or less.

It should be fairly strong so cannabalizing a child's toy would not work.

the bicycle and motocycle shops on chiang moi khoa seem only to have much larger stronger springs.

if i were you i would take a spring to show and ask around at the hardware stores on sridonchai rd-between suriwangse bookstore and chiang mai gate or another idea would be mechanic shops around there and on the road to the trainstation or junkyards which are pretty much on all the roads leaving cm. you haven't answered my question about meeting german speaking fellows.
