City Hall Security Officer accused of extortion from street vendors at the Bali Hai Port in South Pattaya

PATTAYA: -- A covert Police operation led to the arrest of a suspected corrupt Pattaya City Hall Security Officer on Friday Evening at the Bali Hai Port in South Pattaya. Police received a complaint that the officer was taking money from vendors at the Port who were threatened with arrest if they did not pay. The vendors told Police they were expected to pay up to 6,500 Baht a month to Khun Tanongsak aged 38. One vendor, armed with 4,000 Baht in marked bank notes arranged to meet the suspect at the Bali Hai Port on Friday and handed over the money.
