Real Estate Scam Nets Bt500,000 from Elderly Thai Woman

PATTAYA: -- An elderly Thai lady has reported to Pattaya Police on Saturday after she became the victim of a real estate scam, losing Bt500,000 to a group of devious fraudsters.

Pattaya, the 21st of August 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 1:00pm on Saturday, Colonel Nunthawut Suwanla-ong (Pattaya Police Superintendent) was notified of real estate scam, perpetrated on an elderly Thai lady in Thepprasit. A team of officers was dispatched to an unnamed photo shop along Thepprasit Road, where the victim had reported the incident.

At the scene, Mrs. Lamyai Chat-in [62] was waiting to give her statement to police. She explained that a gang of three Thai people (2 men and 1 woman) had deceived her over a land acquisition in Jomtien, conning her into handing over Bt500,000 for the purchase of the property before fleeing while she was inside the nearby photo shop.
