I would vote for 'no control' in this case but I'm not going to officially vote because I think the regular posters of the forum in question should decide this matter since it will affect them the most.

I can't see that you are able to vote as there is no option for "no control".

Very early on when the "gay forum" was launched, there was a poll initiated asking something like 'are you gay or not?'. Over 40% of posters (or is it pollsters?) said that they were. So, do we assume that over 40% of TV members are gay?

Paddy! Where is your wit when I need it?

:D

maybe some of the voters thought they were being asked if they happy or not... :o

It will be very interesting to see the results of this poll

"Can of worms" comes to mind, Matt.

Not to mention "bottle of chips". :o

But now I'm thinking it's to protect the virgin eyes of the straight men here.

I'm a NIMBY and don't apologise for it!

I wasn't born in the 21st century.

Yorkie, what's your point? Do you want the gay forum (which isn't as explicit as this forum, surely, or perhaps most of the forums on Thaivisa.com) so restricted that even you, who are literate and sighted, can see where you're going?

Gosh, I was a bit testy last night (for good reasons), sleepy but sober, and went off to sleep. I come back to find the most recent topics in Bedlam are 'tits' and 'willies.' Maybe the Bedlam forum needs warning signs: "For grown men who haven't entered the 21st century."

I can see your point here, blondie. However, there is a warning sign in Bedlam albeit not quite as explicit as you have suggested.

Does anyone agree with me that it would be sensible to have selective access to view posts and post on the Gay Forum similar to Bedlam? I.e. only those who have previously  advised Admin of their aspirations would be able to view and post in there.

what is bedlam?

Anyone with selective access should be bared from the main forum.... fair is fair ladies :o

Hoe come when we do Polls, there's no result ever declared, it just seems to meander on then is forgotten.

If you want to read and add to the gay forum. Then do so. Same as the womens forum. Should people not go there because they are not a woman? I have posted a couple of times on the womens forum but dont really go there. Same as the gay forum i dont go there. Not because i'm homophobic as a couple of people on here called me and the Moog. But because i think i have enough other forums to visit. I for one have a few gay friends. But i see no need for me to visit. I have seen posts on the main board thats the recent topic in the gay forum.ie something like gay saunas in Thailand. I know nothing about that. So i have nothing to add. Some other people may. So each to their own.

Its simple really.....

If you dont like it then dont look....

...Erm, in what way is the gay forum 'in the face of the others'?  Normally, anybody who doesn't want it in their face, will not access the forum.....

The big problem now is, the Forum Portal's "Latest Topic Replies" box. Before the Portal started, I did not subscribe to the Gay forum or get it's email notifications. I still don't, but I still end up in there accidentally by clicking on an entry in the "Latest Topic Replies" box. (You cannot determine in which forum the reply is located).

So maybe we need an upgrade to the software so that the member only gets in the "Latest Topic Replies" box, entries from the forums that he wants to see.

Having said all that, I think it's a good idea to read the forum, just to see what is going on in there. I know I probably upset a few people by complaining that the Gay forum was talking about Bar Boys, while the other forums cannot talk about Bar Girls. So the Bar Boy ban was "rejuvenated".

I'm not anti-gay, but I don't want gays to be given special treatment either.

...One of the common misperceptions about gay men is that we're militantly in people's faces...

If you were at the Melbourne Gay Festival at St Kilda beach, 2000, you wouldn't be saying that! :D:D (I didn't know it was on. Honest! :o )

Fair comment rdn, but we are all grown ups on here, surely if you click on a link and it appears in the Gay section and you dont want to look all you have to do is click the back button on your browser.

Or are you worried that someone might see your name on the list at the bottom of the screen :o:D Only joking

Surely if you clicked on a header because it sounded interesting does it matter that its in the gay forum? it might still be an interesting topic.

:D

Threads like this bring out the worst in everybody. I feel disheartened to see all the homophobic comments in this thread. Shows how far we have to go before people can learn to live and let live.

No restricted access. The 'must show i am heterosexual at every opportunity' crowd can head to the sports forum and secretly glance at the jockstraps of other members while they pretend it's raining.

It is possible, and arguably much more comfortable for your own peace of mind, to be heterosexual without hating or showing dislike for gays at every opportunity.

I always use the "new topics" feature, just a thought ...if the "topic title" holds no intrest for you don't read it. It even says what forum the topic is posted in so if "gay" posts offend's you just dont read them.....not that difficult really. I voted no, but cant remember what the original question was :o

It really doesn't matter, RC

The whole point of this thread is bogus.

If folks don't like what's on - don't read. What could be simpler than that? :o

If gentlemen wanted a gentlemens only access bitches and fags would call us racist .

All in fun girls

As the OP could I ask the one of the mods to close this thread? It's getting out of hand!

I vote that instead of closing the thread, we restrict access... :o

Jayenram has now found his way to the Gay Forum, participating in the 'Are we born gay' topic.

So I guess we draw our own conclusions from his sashaying wilfully down that pathway.

Aspirations?

From reading the post he made, it seems that he is still in denial.. :o

I've been there again. I was born with an inherant dislike of anything that I (and my fathers, and my forfathers, and my forfarthers fathers) found distasteful. And?

Same here.... it's for this reason I've never liked cigars... :o

OK - done!
