Film Club In Chiang Mai?

Featured Replies

Is there a classic film club in Chiang Mai? I enjoy watching films especially the classics and foreign films. I was curious if there was something at the university etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Every Friday evening the Alliance Francaise offers screens an old or not so old French Film.

Here's some info about it I copied from a blog "he Alliance Française shows its series of French films in a small room in their building at 138 Charoen Prathet Road. The building is directly opposite Wat Chaimongkhon, near the Chedi Hotel. Tell your taxi "Samakhom Frangset" and/or "Wat Chaimongkhon."A contribution of 30 baht is requested; you pay outside at the information desk of the Alliance Française proper."

You may wish to sign up for Thomas Ohlson on-line newsletter. For me, it's the best source of info about upcoming films in CM -- not just the ones at the commercial cinemas. His website is http://thomatfilms.blogspot.com/

Nice link Nancy

As a Doi Saket resident I'm very impressed with

1st Doi Saket International Film Festival: Oct 23 to 30 :D

TRUE Visions (MCOT) run an endless TCM (Turner Classic Movies) programme which evokes every nostalgic moment imaginable.

Not sure what it will cost to sign up with True - but you might enquire.

Cheers.

UBC also run endless repeats of your least favourite movies, so if you watch them enough times they might even grow on you.

Last night's movie at Alliance Francais was rubbish and the quality very poor (1966), but next week's Trois Couleurs Bleu (1993) the first part of a Kieslowski trilogy should be well worth seeing.

thank you so much every one. I saw the the film at the French cultural center years ago and i can thoroughly recommend it.

Alliance Francaise Fridays, this month the Kieslowki trilogy which is most recommended

Sangdee Gallery, Nimahemin area, shows since a couple of weeks interesting movies also on Fridays --that's a pity to do it on the same day as the Alliance.

CMU Art Centre, Saturdays shows interesting movies, but your patience might be tested

Curious about that festival in Doi Saket?

Program of Alliance and CMU in all free mags. Find Sangdee on Facebook.

hope this helps
