Kangaroo Bar

Featured Replies

Returning from Don's Cafe last night we spied a kangaroo standing guard over a beeratorium.

So we entered to be served refreshments by our charming hostess who had lived many years in Perth.

The point being?

The point being is that there is an Australian themed

bar in Doi Hang.

You missed a good night Will, I even had a couple of glasses of Chilean el plonko with my BBQ.

There were 4 or 5 Aussies in the bar who were a cheerful crowd and my neighbour had a couple of San Miguel Lights while I sobered up on soda water.

Did you bar fine the "Roo"?

Hi all,

Is the Kangaroo Bar on the Chiang Rai map? I didn't notice anything relevant.

Thanks in advance,

Garry

Hi. I want to get the Kangaroo Bar on the Chiangrai Map but can someone help me as to how to do it. If you know where Dons is well you have to go right past my Bar on your way there. Its about 4 klm past the Army Camp and follow the Red Kangaroo signs on the side of the road.It is a family orientated Bar with no loud music or undesirables.

In the old days Den Ha was the first village to go through when you

wanted to go to Chiang Mai, using 'the old road' of course. That's why

you have to leave town through the Pratu Chiang Mai (Chiang Mai Gate).

Nowadays Den Ha is known among others as the place to pass on your way to

'Pattaya Noi', re-baptized into a more innocent sounding 'Chiang Rai Beach'.

To visit the Kangaroo Bar (open every day from 14.00 to 20.00, except

Wednesday and Thursday) you have to pass Den Ha as well.

You simply follow the signs to Rai Mae Fah Luang Art and Cultural Park

or the signs to Huay Mak Liem (sp?) hotspring, or, if you wish so, to

'Chiangrai Remand Prison'.

So, from where ever you come, even by the superhighway, there are signs

that will lead you to the Rai MFL. Follow these and when you have reached

the Rai you go on for another three kilometers. It is in Ban Hong Oh, the

last village before the new prison, at the inner side of a sharp curve to

the left.

Sorry Gary, I wouldn't know either how to put the Kangeroo Bar on the map.

On the picture: the only foreigner in Chiang Rai holding a worldrecord, Alan

Bates of the bicycle museum in Chiang Khong, having a nice conversation with

a kangaroo in (where else?) Australia.
