Multiple-Entry Non-Imm B + Re-Entry Permit?

Featured Replies

I currently have a new non-immigrant multiple entry B visa and just came back into the country this week.

I am starting the work-permit application through my company however need to travel out of thailand in the coming week for biz.

Do I need to apply for a re-entry permit while my work permit is being processed? Once my work permit is approved, do I need to apply for a re-entry permit each time I leave the country or does the multiple entry B visa take care of that by that point?

You don't need a re-entry permit if you have a valid multi-entry visa. You will be stamped permited to stay 90 days upon each entry.

You would only need a re-entry permit if you change to a one year "Extension of Stay", or have a single entry visa.

The work permit does not have anything to do with your permission to stay.

No, re-entry permit is necessary.

You have a multiple non-B visa, that means that during the one year of validity every time you travel to Thailand you can stay for 90 days and then have to leave the country and can come right back the same hour for another 90 days. By leaving and re-entering just before the visa expires you will get a new 90 days and almost 15 months out of the visa.

So you don't need a re-entry permit and must leave the country at least every 90 days. If you go to immigration to get a 1 year extension of stay, then you will need a re-entry permit.

If you go to immigration to get a 1 year extension of stay, then you will need a re-entry permit.

This has always confused me, I entered on a single entry non b that was then converted to a 1 yr extension (am actually on a 2 yr extension now) I was never told I need re-entry permits, nor have I ever obtained nor have I ever been penalized for this............ am I in for a world of hurt with immigration at some point in the future ??

You only need a re-entry permit to keep your permission to stay valid when you depart Thailand. If you don't leave, you just need to do the 90 day address reports.

I fly in and out atleast 5 times a year, my reporting date resets each time I return.

Maybe Iam on a multiple extension, I will check my passport tonight.

EDIT: just found a scan of my old extension,, next to it is a multiple re-entry stamp.

Thanks everyone.

I was told that because my Work Permit application is still being processed, that even with a Multiple Entry B Visa, ONLY while my Work Permit was being processed I would need to apply for a Re-Entry Permit. Good to hear that is not the case.
