I am gonna be coming to visit soon, and I wanna bring about 5 DVD's to watch with my friends. Will there be any problems with that? Also what about copied music CD's? All are seperate albums and I only have about 6-8 I wanna bring. Nothing is multiple copys of the same thing...

Thanks anyone for your reply's.

If they are copies, then you are "breaking the law" and the authorities would be within their rights to prosecute you. Punishments range from stoning, public water-boarding or being forced to listen to Issan country Music constantly for 72 hours. As they say, "it's up to you".

I own the actual albums but ok, I won't bring any copies of anything.. What about the DVD's. They are not copies.

If you arrive at the airport and you aren't carrying copy DVDs and music then the Customs Department will take you down to Panthip Plaza and won't let you out until you've filled your suitcase with copies.:D

And dont forget as you exit Thailand to read the notice about leaving with counterfeit goods so you just can hand them back to the Thai authorities who will re sell them on and repeat the endless loop:lol:

That's a shame, I'm sure you could have sold them on to a number of members here

He could very well end up with some BG or LB and then get drugged and then maybe lose a liver they can fetch a good price on the black market.

don't forget thailand is a 3rd world country and still uses the Video Cassette system (VHS) so you will be lucky to find a DVD player here unless you can get one on the black-market or have one of those portable type computer gizmos !!

VHS? Where I live they only show the latest movies using hand puppets at the local rickshaw drive in

I never have enough time to do all the things I need or want to do, so I have been trying for a 35-hour-day for years now without success - and now you are saying you managed a 72-hour-one?!? You have to teach me how - please!!!

P.S.: I think you are breaking the laws of physics!

People like you disgust me..........You give Thailand a bad name.

This country doesn't need people like you.

I must ask, was your post in jest or serious.

The sad thing is that some people actually marked his post with a red - when it was clearly said in jest.

If you put your movies on a portable hard drive you are fairly safe. I brought over close to 250 gigs of music & movies. They have virtually no way to tell if it is copied from your original or a copy from someone else. If you are concerned get true crypt or another data program that masks your space in your hard drive. It takes up to 3 months top break the pass code & most customs could care less ..Unless they have been tipped of that you ate doing something illegal.

They rarely perform cavity searches at customs so if you are at all concerned this might an option for concealment.

You can get a DVD in a cavity?? This has to be one for Youtube (adult section) :)

Seriously, customs won't give a flying, bring 201 cigarettes or 1.00001 litres of booze and it's another story.

From experience there is very little customs checking of falang coming on holiday.

I've entered dozens of times in the last 24 years and always walked through "nothing to declare".

And even if they checked, I think they couldn't give a shit about copy DVD disks.

Kenny

nobody will EVER check the DVDs you bring into the country. stop worrying.

There are some questions better not asked.

SC

As you should know, living in Thailand, as well as it being - prudent; polite - not to ask, if you are actually interested in the answer, then you will need to ask the question in a less direct way ('softly, softly, catch the monkey', to use a field sports term...)

Still rolling on the floor with laughter,... even while I don't feel so well with some sort of mild flu :D:rolleyes: And then the addition of beheadings just added to it..

I don't even bring all my medications. The last thing anyone wants while traveling is a run in with the law. Better safe than sorry.
