Thai Mobile Phone For Use In Usa

Featured Replies

My Thai wife says this is possible...can I take my Thai Nokia mobile phone to the USA and just pop in a USA SIM card for local use in the states...?

It depends on what model phone you have. If it is a dual band phone the answer is NO. If you have a quad-band phone the answer is YES. If you have a tri-band phone the answer is maybe. In the USA you need 1900 Mhz band for T-Mobile and 850 Mhz band for AT&T. If the phone supports those bands you can use it. If not, you cannot use it.

Hey Thanks Jackbox,

I have an old Nokia, but the wife has a Thai Blackberry Curve that says T-Mobile on the front. However, she currently is not using any 'Blackberry' service...just a SIM card from True. Will this allow usage in the USA...?

Thanks again.

Of course it will work. The phone is from the USA. All GSM BlackBerry are quad-band.

Go to a T-Mobile store, not one of those kiosks you see in the malls to buy a Simcard. The kiosk will try to sell you a whole phone, not just a Simcard. AT&T is the same way.
