How To Send Sms Messages From E-Mail Clients

You can send SMS messages from E-Mail clients to a phone, e.g. via (your phonenumber) [email protected]

Somebody here who know about this ? I did some testing following the information on few websites, but no results so far.

An SMS gateways is a way of sending a text message with or without using a mobile (cell) phone. Specifically, it is a device or service offering SMS transit, transforming messages to mobile network traffic from other media, or vice versa, allowing transmission or receipt of SMS messages with or without the use of a mobile phone. As far as I can remember AIS/One-2-Call closed their public email gateway ([email protected]) ~ 5 years ago. You could contact them to see if they offer this service as part of a plan or a separately billed service. I find them to be extremely responsive.

Many mobile service providers do offer this service, for example my provider (T-Mobile, pre-paid) in the U.S. uses: [email protected].

For PC to mobile messaging, as a One-2-Call pre-paid subscriber, you can use the eServices interface to generate SMSes, the charge is 1 baht/SMS.

I have been using a paid SMS service for ~ 5 years, Telemessage which offers a whole range of PC-interface products including two I use: an Outlook plug-in and a browser tool-bar.

In general, I find paid services (email, SMS) to be much more reliable (neither SMS or email are 'guaranteed' services) than free services.

We use the gatewaay from www.clickatell.com. Cost is about 8 cents per message, depending on location. You just buy credits.

Yes and you have to have a Thai based mobile to use the service, which sort of defeats the OP's original request to send an SMS via an email client

If you have a Thai mobile why would you bother to use an email client to send and SMS, just use your phone to send the SMS

For send a SMS to a Skype user :

Write the word skype folowing by a space

Write the skype username of the recipient, following by a space

Write your text

Send this message to the number +41762203200

Exemple :

To send the text : Call me please to a skype user nammed alanwood write the following text on your mobile phone :

skype alaindufour Call me please

Send this SMS to the number +41762203200

Your SMS will be transmitted as chat message on the Skype software on your recipient.

Following that link I see that you do have to pay via tokens, which must be purchased. That doesn't sound free to me, or am I missing something?

If you want to send a skype message to a mobile phone they charge. But if you just want to send a sms to a skype account they dont charge. You just have the costs to send a sms to a swiss number.

I have received the one-time password while in Japan. I just presumed that it worked globally.

Maybe the US provider blocks it?

I roam onto T-Mobile and AT&T in the U.S. with One-2-Call, and can make/receive voice calls, send/receive SMSes, I can get account status *121#, and even receive the IR (international roaming, *131* menus) greeting so I'm not sure why it would be blocked. I sort of assumed that One-2-Call knows that I am in the U.S. (IMEI/SIM details) so they choose not to pass the one-time password. I have several trips back soon so will re-test.
