Kindle 3G

Featured Replies

I read somewhere that people were having trouble using their Kindle 3G to access the web. I mean, doing anything except reaching Amazon for download of books. Is this the case? Does anybody have a Kindle 3G and is able to read their emails or simply browse online? I'm ready to order one from Amazon and that's the only reason I would get the 3G. If it doesn't really work here, then I'll go for the cheaper model.

That's because there is no 3G in Thailand. I bought the 3G model in anticipation of when there's 3G in Thailand. I use the WiFi and it works fine for downloading from Amazon. The web browser and reading emails is experimental. I love it as a book reader. I strongly recommend it to anyone that likes to read books. It's not a cheap alternative to an IPad for web browsing.

THere is 3 g in thailand but in very limited areas. In CM it works.

If there is no 3 g the device falls back to use the slower alternatives.

THe browser is a basic text based browser with limited image support and I believe there are a limited number of sites it can access. It almost certainly cannot be used as an email client.

Thanks. I ordered the 3G Kindle from Amazon yesterday. I want it mainly for reading, so the browsing would just be an added convenience.
