Multi Non Imm O Question

Featured Replies

I have a multi Non Immigrant O visa which expires on 11th November next. I'm woking outside Thailand just now and I'm not sure what the situation would be if I return to Thailand after my Non O has expired. Will immigration issue a 30day visa on arrival or will my previous time in Thailand on the Non O prevent that.

Do I have any other options, for example could I get a 60day tourist visa

Thanks

You don't mention your nationality, but most citizens of most nations would get a 30 day Visa Exempt Entry on an air arrival or 15 days by land.

Previous visa type has no bearing on Visa Exempt Entry eligibility.

Tourist Visa is a good option giving you 60 days days plus the option of a 30 day extension.

Note that if you enter Thailand before the 11th November, you would still get a 90 day stamp in your passport.

I had this problem when working in India in March this year.

The project went late and my Multi non "O" expired.

I did not have marriage docs with me, as they were in Bangkok.

The Thai consulate in India would not issue me a tourist visa.

They said i had to apply for a non "O".

I explained that the docs. were in Bangkok but to no avail.

To come in on 30 day exempt you need a return ticket, but i was not going back to that project in India.

So it was a quick trip to UK for a new Non"O".

My wife had to courier my documents to UK as well.

So i have scanned all documents and keep them on my laptop.

That was a local decision and not a requirement of MFA or Immigration but likely because your stated reason was to visit wife rather than tour Thailand. Suspect most places would have issued without such a problem.

Visa exempt entry does not require a return ticket. Onward travel within 30 day is all it requires. So a ticket to Singapore or such (to later obtain the Non Immigration visa) would likely have been more economical.
