New Community Forum Suggestion?

Featured Replies

...many of us are overseas for some (or all) of the time. We still arrange get togethers and chat about local Thai issues etc while out of LoS.

Rather than threads either get lost in the deluge of Thai residents (loosely termed!) or get slammed for not being purely Thai related, how about a community forum for non-residents (don't think we need one per country, just the one will probably do).

Hong Klay Kriat and Bedlam forums are alot looser on the Thai content and are meant for less moderated general banter. I think they would already fit the purpose.

Er... but Bedlam is only for posters with 500+ posts - newbies are locked out..."I hear you knockin', but you can't come in..." - and I doubt any one would look in "Hong Klay Kriat" for local overseas - Thai related - content; I wouldn't.

Its not the moderation I'm thinking of per say, more the grouping of threads that have relevence to Thailand, but less relevence to expats currently residing in LoS.

Meets for UK/European/American members; Problems with Thai spouses in the member's host country; How to get Thai Sat TV to work in Scotland; Best phone cards for the Thai spouse to call home; where to learn Thai in New York; Where to get a Thai to Danish phrase book; yah dee dah. I think you see what I mean - stuff that is of little interest to expats in LoS (and fill up the main forums), is directly Thai related and is of use to a fair percentage of TV members.

Many of us are not currently living in LoS - whether short term "earning some crust" visit home, building up to take the plunge or a member simply because of a spousal connection and a love for the country/culture/whatever.

Just my thoughts, if no one is interested then by all means ignore me...everyone else does - sniff :o

I think it's not such a bad idea, like you say there are many people who use this forum who don't currently live in Thailand or spend part of their time living in Thailand , myself being one.

Maybe called someting like " Thai Expat Communities " or " Thai overseas communities". " Thais in Farangland ", " Homesick Thais Forum "

Iim sure it could be very helpful for those with Thai partners that live outside of Thailand.

But saying that, there are sites that cater for that already I suppose, not sure how many people would benefit on here.

Any reason for the double post tots? :o Did you think it is really important?

Only joking, i reckon it would be good too. I dont reside in Thailand but i like the idea of chatting about country specific problems/questions and not just Thailand problems/questions

Just my opinion :D

I know there are other sites, but I can't be arsed to log into more than one site. Besides I like this one and am used to it. I flick between forums (I guess like we all do), but don't bother with any of the other Thai Forum sites. Some of them I have tried out and don't like - either because of the style or the 'residents' or both. I think this is especially true of some of the UK based ones - clicky and/or mostly about Nana trips.

Here at TV, we get to know each other on other forums, so we tend to know (after some time at least) who's advice is spot on and who doesn't know a Gluay from a Kuay. :o
