I think my landlady is exploiting the current water shortage by upping my charges yet again. She claims its a government increase. I now have to pay 30 baht per unit, up from 20 baht this time last year.

I know I've got to pay it but I would be interested to know what other users are paying in particular users who pay direct to the water company. I just want to be able to tell her so that she knows I know. Moving out is not an option as I just paid a years rent in advance.

Electricity would be interesting too.

Had my bill yesterday. 10 baht per unit for my bungalow and that's an Estate charged amount.Electric 2.7 baht, but with VAT etc works out 3.3 baht.

It shouldn't be more than 10 baht a cu m.

However I would have thought this discussion was academic in Pattaya.

I thought the supply had dried up? :o

Exactlt the same as me. 2.7 electric; 9.9 water, but in our shared system in our second restaurant the landlady charges us 15 for water. After reading about 20-30 I don't think I'll complain now.

I pay 13 Baht/cubic meter directly to the water company.

Located close to the OrBorTo Pong at Mabprachan lake.

Electricity depends on several factors. FT charge, can change every month and the amount of electricity you use.The higher the usage, the higher the price/unit.

A little under 3.5 Baht/kWh incl. vat at the moment for me...

I also pay 13 baht per cubic meter directly to the water company.

But I note that the meter also spins wildly with the air going through the system when the mains are sporadically turned on... :o

And Astral, the Pattaya water supply has been supplemented by pipeline from the Sattahip/Rayong supply I believe... :D

Here in Bangkok there has been an increase from 10.05 last month to 10.95 per unit this month so it would not surprise me to see an increase there also (but 20 to 30 baht sounds high for an official price - perhaps reflects buying trucked water?).

It has, we are on 3 trucks of water a day compared to none this time last year. I suspect this is why she put the price up. Oh to meet an honest Thai!

Glad to hear it.

I heard a rumour that farangs were working in a Chain Gang, digging for water

in the reservoir. :D

Just got the new water bill today under new system. The meterman read the meter and printed the bill on a hand-held computer outside the gate - neat! Charge was 86 baht for 11,000 litres (7.8 baht per unit). Supplementary charges of 30 baht for standing services and 8.12 baht tax. (Location Surin)

Electric charges based on the following; the current rate structure charges 1.88 baht per unit for the first 150 units, and 2.77 baht per unit for 151-400 units. Usage over 400 units are charged 2.97 baht each. The rates exclude monthly service fees of 40.9 baht as well as energy adjustment charges, otherwise known as the Ft charge, of 0.4683 baht per unit.

Many apartments are charging 30bht unit at the moment.Have heard many thais moan about the 5 bht inmcrease which happened in the last week or two around alot of central pattaya apartments..

On the subject of electricity,i have heard some people pay 7,8,9 and even 10 for a unit.

Nice little earners from a block of maybe 20-30 apartments.

My water bill was just 106 baht this month, and electric only 1,170 baht. Paid direct to the companies and not inflated by land lords.

Saying that, I am also a land lord and wouldn’t dream of adding anything to my tenant who receives the bills in my name and pays direct.

Got to admit that I’m glad I went against all internet advise not to buy a couple of properties here in Thailand, rather than rent 3 years ago. :o

Was also offered nearly 50% more than I paid for the house we live in a few weeks ago, (but said no thanks) so again glad I didn’t listen to advice about it being foolish to buy here, just outside Pattaya.

Well done Mike... it's good to see that it is possible to be successful in the property market in Thailand... even in your own home.

:D
