Only watched the first 10 minutes so far..... I'm at once gobsmacked, yet not totally suprised.

Land of the free. Hahaha.

To be fair, one has to understand that federal employees are not neccessarily the smartest people on earth, so may be wont to make decisions that are technically correct, without realising that they are stupid in the spirit of whatever regulations they are trying to enforce.

There was a lot going on in that video........

They touched on the TSA & the no fly list etc.

The whole Monsanto deal anti small farmers etc.

Build up of various small laws enforcements chasing income for the failing local governments never once realizing it is actually costing them more. .......Job creation ? Who knows

The inevitable move to digital currency doing away with cash & giving the govt total control.

Immigration & the backwards approach the US has to not only being lax on illegal immigration but so far as to show how hard it is to leave if an illegal immigrant decides to do so.

The fat pay local officials have given themselves.

Even the debacle of Mrs. Obama spending 241k USD for her trip to Spain ...in this economy with this many folks out of work & losing their homes

I liked the last 20 minutes best.

I will say that I look forward to tomorrows elections here in the US.

While I am not so naive to think the Republicans will do better I doubt they will do worse.

I have said many times they are after all just different wings of the same corrupt bird.

But I am looking forward none the less to the hopefully surprised many that will join the unemployed tomorrow.

Mr. Flying:

You forgot to mention the 44 minute mark in the video when they talked about all the Americans choosing to live and retire overseas because they are simply tired of what is going on back there.

Do I remember correctly that you have previously claimed those of us living in Thailand are not good loyal Americans because we don't put up with the nonsense back there?

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I anxiously await tomorrow morning here in LOS to see who wins and who loses.

Ok I will.............

No I do not remember the previous claim you state but if you provide a link then perhaps it would help.

But I do remember complaining at one time that certain X-pats here did try to tell folks who still live in the US what was what.

I do also remember stating that I did not think it fair for those who do not have to eat the cake have a say in how it is baked.

I still do feel that way .....no personal slight intended Mr Chuck...

As you yourself point out....@ 44 minutes into that film they state many Americans now moved to Mexico where they could buy a villa for 300k instead of paying 1 million plus.

I have no problems with........... that go for it.

I have no problem with the other thing you said either.....

all the Americans choosing to live and retire overseas because they are simply tired of what is going on back there.

Again go for it.

But if your too tired to help & your too fed up to stay then please dont get upset when I call it Little Red Hen

I too may leave someday who knows......But if I do I no longer will expect to eat the cake I did not help bake...Nor will I demand to have a say in how it is baked.

I will not be the backseat driver thanks ;)

How can a decision about where one lives affect their love of country and patriotism?

I was a "front seat driver" for over 65 years. That, alone, entitles me to voice my opinion and express my feelings about the conditions in the US.

I have a son and daughter living in the US and that connection, alone, entitles me to voice my opinion on how their lives are being managed and possibly destroyed by politicians.

You may feel you will not expect to eat the cake you did not help bake. How you feel about your own contributions to the cake are a matter on which I cannot comment. I baked over 65 years and will continue to enjoy the fruits of my labor.

I will look for the links when I have cooled down a tad.

You like your clip art buddy like to twist folks posts & intents

I never once said lack of loyalty or love of country was less in those who abandon.

What I did say was those who do not have to live in the state created should not have a say in making the state rules/policies

Yes you baked & yes you ate. Now your done....Even your leftovers are set aside for you to enjoy even now. Even though the ingredients were probably bought by those still working. But as you know that is a separate story.... ponzi scheme known as SS

You may have been in the front seat as you say but your out of the car now. You left it on the side of the road.

Yes by all means Enjoy the fruits....Because the truth of it is your generation will suck up what is probably the last of the SS and yes it is good portion down to what your generation did & did not do.

Dont misunderstand me...I am in no way claiming my generation is doing any better or any favors to the future generations either.

Your son & daughter who live here are here & as such are not the same as what your complaining about. You are confused if you think that living in Asia gives you a right to decide your son & daughters life in the USA but hold onto that thought if you like.

Perhaps if you yell loud enough someone in Washington will hear you.

Dont worry about the link Chuck as I never said your unloyal but I did say & repeat above what I feel.Your not here your not involved.

Dont tell us how to live/govern if your not subject to the living conditions.

Enjoy the election outcome I am pretty sure it will be as you hoped after tomorrow....gridlock

Which while not the best outcome is better than more forward motion down the hole.

Flying, I'm not following your logic on this. Not all expats are retired here, and even if they were, they are still subject to regulations imposed by U.S. government agencies, SS, IRS, etc. Why shouldn't they have a voice or opinion?

Dont bother...........Chuck & his brother from a different mother have a knack for derailing threads & usually getting them closed.

Post #4 a classic example of his taking a post (mine of a video in this case) & responding to it with nothing to add but bait.

Chuck & I had discussed in the past a comment I made about voting rights. That is all he tried to change the thread into.....

Of course opinions are like a$$holes everyone has one & I never said otherwise or that chuck was not entitled to one.

But as for voting in idiots & then not having to live under the conditions they create....Yes that is a form of red hen IMO

Drawing a retirement check while living & spending it in another country is not being subjected to it in the same way .......again IMO

obviously as chuck himself said....

we don't put up with the nonsense back there

So he left.......all fine & well.

All that aside THIS thread is just a post of a video recently released showing the continued downhill spiral that is taking place in this country in which I live.

Of course you have every right to influence what is happening in the country that you have given so much..

On the other hand, the video was mostly just a bunch of silly little things like a lot of other silly little things that have been going on since human beings cobbled together the first nation-state and the first government - nothing new.

Liberty is not ending and the sky is not falling.

does it really matter Chuck? in my [not so] humble opinion it does not. but i would like to add that it is not the privilege of the Greatest Nation on Earth™ to bullshit and fleece its citizens. something similar is going on in one of my home countries and many other countries on this planet. much brighter is the outlook in my "secondary" home country although there too it's not all gold that shines.

Yes, it matters.

I don't know what you are talking about, but I was referring to the elections going on in the US today with my winning/losing remark.

I'm hoping the Republicans take over the House and the Dems keep slim control over the Senate. The country seems to suffer more when one party controls both.

Apologies for talking about American politics here in OTB. ;)

But as for voting in idiots & then not having to live under the conditions they create....

Decisions by American politicians often affect the world and everybody in it. At least those still living in America don't have to worry about being attacked by people unhappy with America's policies just because they are Americans. You guys back home have it so easy. ;)

It sucks for all of us whether we are still living within the borders or not.

i too was referring to the elections and do not understand your "waiting anxiously" as US-taxpayers will be screwed no matter who wins or loses.

That is the crux of it.............

Tomorrow more than likely Prez Obama will make a speech

It will be the same basic speech that was made in the same basic situation following mid term

house and or senate changing majorities that was repeated by

Prez Bush

Prez Clinton

Prez Reagan

Yet where are we today?

Same as it ever was except progressively worse.

Dems...Repubs...Left wing...Right wing....This bird needs to be killed & stuffed

The greatest folly is to expect the cake to ever taste different when the same basic recipe is used over & over again.
