Netbook - Any Recommendations ?

Featured Replies

Hi, I am considering buying a "Netbook", smaller lighter and a little easier to travel with than a full blown laptop.

Anyone recommend one ? and where to get it in Bkk, price etc, any other thoughts or tips to look out for would be appreciated

Thanks

Smallest one you can find with the longest battery life.

Maybe one of the newer Asus models, they are widely sold in Thailand.

Some of the Asus Seashells are nice. Also have a look at the new HP models, nice design. Get something with a comfortable keyboard you can type on, makes a world of difference.

I had an Acer Aspire 1 until I dropped it. I replaced it with an HP Mini with Windows 7 and it was a whole different world. Great battery life, fast, not a single problem with it.

Another vote for the HP Mini. I have an old Mini 1000 with the six cell battery ... and it's been great. Panthip has the new Mini for 9,500 THB and a dual core Mini netbook for 13,500 - the extra prcessor power may be worth the extra cash if you do more than internet access.

Thanks guys , great help, I only need to access email / reply and visit websites nothing elaborate or heavy multi tasking, very basic internet use.

Looks like the HP mini is the favorite up to now and at around 9500 baht sounds like a good deal.

I have a Samsung N220, fantastic little machine that is very light (1.3kg) and has awesome battery life (9 hrs running jolicloud OS).

Whilst it is not the cheapest netbook out there and I agree bang for buck there are cheaper options the selling point for me with the Samsung is the Matte screen, I hate the glare shiny screen machines suffer when operating in brightly lit/outdoor area's.

Does the HP Mini @ 9,500 baht includes the original Win7 ?

What flavor, is it Win7 starter, home. etc.?

In mine it was Windows 7 Starter, but I've yet to run into any real limitations.

There are several Mini models: 110, 210, 311, etc. Which one do you have?

What's the size and other specs?

Where did you bought it?

Sorry, for so many questions.

Mine is a 210-1000 with the 6 cell battery.

I bought a Samsung NB28plus this week. It's priced at around 11,000 baht but I managed to find a shop doing it for 8354 baht for some reason. Once I get the tax back at the airport that will be 7500 baht. It seems to be a great machine with good battery life and the usual features.

Im looking for the new Acer Aspire One D255 with Atom N550 , is it for sale in Bangkok ?

You can buy it for around $400 in Europe.
