Teaching In Phuket

Featured Replies

I am a Canadian certified teacher with additional qualifications in Teaching English as a Second Language. I will be moving to Phuket at the beginning of the next school year and will be looking for a teaching position. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations/advice?

I suggest you join web-site, Ajarn.com.No charge. Excellent site .They list most teaching jobs in Thailand.Start looking ,now. Do not leave it to the last minute. Many positions are advertised in advance, if the school knows it is going to have a vacancy. Good luck

Start now making your list of questions that you need to ask any prospective employer.

This country and province is full of teachers who assumed that certain things would be included in the teaching contract, but weren't. You could very well end up with having few of the 'employee benefits' you think you may get.

One post with a direct link to a commercial site has been deleted. This isn't permitted. The poster was mentioning ajarn.com, which is fine, but can't have a direct link.

By the way, I forgot to welcome you to the forum and I hope you get the help you are looking for.

At the top of the teaching forum are some pinned topics that might be of interest to you. If you are a licensed teacher in your home country and have a Bacehlor's Degree, you are good to go.

You might want to check on international schools which pay much better than regular schools. Some do their recruiting from the home country. The season for recruitment for Thai schools will start in February. The international schools will recruit according to their own school year.

Hopefully, some posters will be along and will know a few schools that might be of interest to you. Best of luck and keep us updated.
