I am getting ready to retire to Jomtien in the next few months and am qualified to get a retirement visa. Has anybody tried to get one here in the US or is it best to get it once I arrive in Jomtien? I wasgoing to come over on a 60 day tourist visa and get my visa there, but I had trouble opening a bank acct on my last visit. The bank wanted a 1 yr. visa....no tourist visa. This was in Pattaya at the Siam Comm Bank. I like this bank as it is closest to my condo.

Eric,

There are many threads in this forum covering exactly what you are asking. Use the forum "search" function (Search above) to find them.

The short answer is that you can get your "retirement visa" in the US before you depart for Thailand.
