Mae Sot

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Back once again for more visa advice. I'm currently here on a 30 day tourist visa but I need to get an extension. When I lived here before I did them at various places such as Vientienne, Savannakhet, Sungai Kulok and Had Lek. I never had any problems but I just want to do something different this time so I was thinking about Mae Sot.

I'm also in Phitsanulok now so it's probably closest.

I just noticed no-one has written about this for a while so I was wondering if this route is still open and usable these days. If so, any words of warning ? or things to look out for?

Many thanks in advance for any replies!

I just came back from my third trip from Mae Sot. I don't have any visa at the moment so I got 30 days permit only.

No problem at all !! Have to cross the bridge by foot ( about 500 meters ) and get to the Burmese custom. They asked me also if I like to visit the burmese market or immediately come back to Thailand. They ask 500 baht fee

Bring an Umbrella !! Since three month ago until now it happened that it was always raining during the walk crossing the bridge.
