Options for investing Thai baht
If you had it all in a s&p 500 index fund you'd get an 8-9% average yearly return, without even thinking about it. Assuming your brokerage firm doesn't rape you for 2% a year you'd do ok. My vanguard index fund charges 0.04%. -

Fire Fire at Bang Pakong Plastic Recycling Plant
Pictures courtesy of Khaosod. A fierce blaze erupted at a plastic recycling factory in Bang Pakong on the afternoon of 12 August, triggering a large-scale firefighting operation and raising fears the flames could spread to nearby residential areas. The fire broke out at around 13:00 at P.C. Plastic, located in Moo 15, Bang Pakong subdistrict, Chachoengsao province. Police Lieutenant Noppadon Thaweechaat, deputy investigator at Bang Pakong Police Station, coordinated the emergency response, calling in fire crews from Bang Pakong Municipality, neighbouring districts and local rescue units. Witnesses reported seeing flames and dense black smoke rising from the rear section of the factory when the blaze began and started spreading rapidly. With strong winds complicating efforts, around 20 fire engines were deployed to the scene. Firefighters battled the flames for approximately three hours, successfully preventing them from reaching adjacent houses and factories. No injuries or fatalities were reported, though the fire damaged an estimated five rai of factory property. Thakornrat, 38, a local resident, said he was resting at home when his girlfriend detected a burning smell. “At first, I thought nothing of it,” he said. “But when she shouted there was a fire, I rushed outside and saw neighbours pointing to flames in the plastic storage area.” Another resident, Phairat, 37, said he was alerted by people shouting in the street. “I stepped out and saw the blaze already well underway,” he recounted. Police have taken witness statements and are awaiting forensic investigators to determine the cause of the fire. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-08-13 -
