Sounds crazy, I never use I.E. but it is driving me crazy..

I have Windows 7 'genuine' and use Chrome with the 2nd browser being Firefox....

For many month when I start the PC it loads then I get a pop up stating 'Internet Explorer has stopped working' if I close this then it just pops back up again, of course it always on top so normally just push it to the side.. I have run many programs every one says my PC is clean, even going to running I.E in Microsoft 'Find and fix a problem' this comes back as unknown error + was not fixed ???

I have [using Chrome] re downloaded I.E 8 and yesterday downloaded I.E Beta 9, still the same, only now new 2 pop up, it I try to close either they just pop back up again.

Please anyone any ideas how to get rid of them

Edit: On MS help it says to go to the Advance Tab and reset... Fine but it then says must close all open windows, as fast as I try to close the 2 pop ups from MS they pop back up so cannot close to do the reset. :annoyed:

Yes went to this thread but for Win 7.. + http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Tips-for-solving-problems-with-Internet-Explorer

Love some of these help info pages.. like open Internet Explore and go to... most of the people that asked also stated they could not open I E :annoyed: Also about installing Windows Defender, I have it and the PC is clean.

I don't use I.E and have not for years, just it is annoying always having this box on the desktop + always on top of everything I open..

As for doing a 'reset' as all the help pages say, fine but when I try to click it, it says must close the open box, sure click on close and before I get the mouse to the reset it is back again.

Just hoping someone had an easy solution.

I would make sure you have the latest IE Adobe software for flash and such as there have been a lot of updates recently and they seem to have versions for each browser.

Have no idea if will help but an easy path and you do need the latest software to be safe in any case.

It likely would take a re-boot to check if helps.

I had a similar problem the other week. I kept getting the pop ups saying the IE8 had problems and I also never use this browser because I think that Chrome is better. It turned out to be a problem with IE8 add on's. By the way I had never downloaded any add on's for IE8, so maybe they were attached to other downloads.

In IE8 Go to Tools-Manage Add on's and disable them and restart the browser. This cured my problem so I hope that it works for you.

Cheers, Rick

ODD I did reply yesterday, but post has vanished ?

Up dated both Abode and Flash in both I.E and NON I.E, now the box no longer pops up, many thanks :)

I highly recommend download and running the free Secunia PSI program. It keeps active tabs on your computer and any outdated program that could be a hazard is immediately brought to your attention (and best easy download to fix). Have been using for several years without any problems.

Thanks

Have used for years also FREE http://www.filehippo.com/

Just did not bother updating some of the items.. it tells me every morning there are new updates

Are they the same ? worth to change to Secunia PSI program ?

Believe they have different aims but often same result. File Hippo I do not have but believe keeps track of general programs and advises when updates are available (but my err in not going deep enough) so you may be told to update things not needing update on your computer or install betas. But my experience was very limited and removed from the computers it was running on (as nobody was taking any notice anyway).

PSI is designed to target security threats and rates them in each warning. These are things that need to be updated (not the newest beta option) and in simple mode provides one click download link to exactly what you need in most cases.

And none of them have the guts to present the licence in any easily retrievable form so FREE in this case should not be taken seriously... if anything...
