Six months ago, I had a wooden deck installed at the back of my house, and we had quite a discussion about the kind of wood, and what kind of preservation would be needed.

For anyone wanting to go through the initial thread: http://www.thaivisa....-Treating-Wood/

In that initial thread, bankruatesteve asked for an update: " How about an update in 6 months or so?"

I marked the calendar, and took a couple of new photos this morning. The deck seems to have survived the six months perfectly, even though the only permethrin and stain were applied to the top surface, as the deck had already been installed before I could do it. There doesn't seem to be any insect activity at all. Perhaps the fact that one end is supported by the old cement and tile deck and the other end does not actually touch the ground, but is supported by painted metal posts, has helped it.

Hi there. Just noticed the post. yeah - looks good. And doesn't seem to have much direct sun so hopefully will look the same after some years.

Cheers!

Yeah, there is a fibreglas roof over it so that stops the strong sun getting to it. Means I can sit out there all day and read without roasting or searing or even going blind!

Because of the prevailing winds, it does often get rain on it, blown in mainly from the end nearest the camera, and has sometimes gone half way up the deck (a bit from the other end, but not much). However, this doesn't seem to have harmed it at all.

Hoping for a good number of years of pleasant relaxing.
