Take Mae Jo /Pharo rd from Super Hiway 11, go 9km and take a left at light at MAe Jo University which is still rt. 1001. Go 5.5 km and it takes a 90 degree turn (right turn if coming from Rim Ping) there is a 7/11 and mini tesco and across the street is the the fresh market Pa Muat. Before the turn, maybe 200 meters is a nice cafe called Lan Ban Tonma, The Tree House Restaurant, on the left with some outside seating on the sidewalk, the food is real good, very generous portions for the very fair prices (that means inexpensive). Maybe this is what your looking for.

correction: that would be right at the light at Mae Jo U.

The 3way intersection (sam yak) on the road that goes to Chiang Rai is a nice market. I buy cooked Thai food from that market quite often. It is like any other market in the city. Fruits, veggies, fish and meats are all there.

Here is a Google map to the market. Click here!!!

If you go towards the Maejo road from the Tesco Express you pass a restaurant called Krua Vachelee (spelling?) the food used to be great there they had torn the old restaurant down and rebuilt brand new recently re-opened - have not had a chance to go back since they re-opened - hope they kept the old chef - very reasonable prices and great Thai food.

Also there is a market if you turn of the road to the right - first crossing after the restaurant - where the large sign for Moo Baan Chook Varee Home is (Nong-Chom area) this area is booming and there are lots of Thai food places now springing up and opposite the market there is a 7eleven now.
