Visa Extension Information

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am near the end of my 30 day visa. Is it easy to get a 30 day extension? I understand that all I need to do is to go to Section 1, Sub-division 1, Immigration Division1, Room 301, 3rd Floor, Old Building , Immigration Bureau, Soi Suan Plu, South Sathorn Road, Sathorn District, Bangkok and I can get it there.

Is that right? Does it take a long time?

Alternatively, I was thinking of going to Malaysia. Can I go to Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia for a visa? Stay a few days and fly back and I'll automatically get another 30 day Thai visa, is that right?

Thanks,

Marc

I assume you have a 30 day entry without visa which can not be extended more than 10 - 15 days. You will not receive 30 day extension from immigration.

Yes. If your passport allows 30 day entry without visa you can exit Thailand, enter another country and then return to obtain another 30 day stay. Or you could visit a Royal Thai Consulate in another country and obtain a tourist visa that would allow a 60 day stay with another 30 day extension possible.

What Lop says is correct just to add you do realise that for another 30 day stay you merely have to step over the border i.e its not neccesary to stay a few days if you dont wish to.............depending where you are based there are bus trips to the border specifically for this purpose ,your there and back in half a day.

Also you are eligible for a long stay visa 1 year stay at a time (over 50's) subject to certain requirements..........just a thought if you are planning on staying for any length of time.
