Casinos

Featured Replies

Thailand is kinda like where I live in Utah, no gambling. Slots, cards, whatever. In Utah, people drive where I live 3 hours away to Nevada to do their gambling. Or go to to Idaho to get lottery tickets. Thailand does not allow gambling, yet the lottery is popular there, but to play slots, cards, people go to to Burma is what I heard. Is that true? Kinda weird.

Hi!

Yes,thats true-but I heard in the news, that the goverment are planning to discuss the question and maby allow it.

They can see-everywhere else, they do-and have a good income to-and it also attract tourist to the area+give alot of jobs.

So I think in a few years,it will be allowed in Thailand to-but as you know-things aint going so fast here.

brianmarinus.

There's casinos in Tachilek and you can cross to the one (ones?) in Laos at Chiang Saen without using your passport.

If you feel like gambling in Thailand just head for the nearest funeral. B)

There are Casino's in Cambodia also but there is also an underground Casino in Chiang Rai but im not telling you where it is. Its a closed secret unless you are friends with those who can take you but even then you have to be trusted, if you break the secret , you may not re-appear if you get my drift. :D

So Sunnys running a Gambling Den. These places are all over. Gambling is rife everywhere here. Card games, fighting Cocks etc..

not necessarily big money, but my father-in-law certainly gambled away a few of my motorbikes and all his worldly possesions in our village , in spite of the strict anti-gambling Laws B)

Fighting cocks!

Sounds painful :D

I'll get my coat...........

Roulette , Poker, slots , same as any normal casino . I have only been once I know the manager of the place but I didnt feel at ease there, I was always thinking of being locked up for a long time if the place was raided. As for normal card games yes we all play , I even play openly with some of my police friends but we play Thai card games and not snap !! :D

And I'm sure your police friends know all about any long running casino in Chiang Rai as well.

Thanks everyone. I am most afraid of going into Burma. Went 1 time a few years back and because I was working for a defense company and retired Air Force, American, felt paranoid as hell. Laos sounds pretty safe and Cambodia, well-unsure. Wife speaks also speaks the Laos language.

Those cock fights are also illegal here in the US but happen in secrecy also. Never seen one until about 10 years ago in my wife's small town and and turned me off watching those guys fighting and the Thai guys (women not allowed) placing their bets and watching in between rounds, the "handlers" stitching their heads up. I guess the humane thing they did it was not a fight to the death and stopped the fight when a cock would give up. The Burmese fighting cock was expensive to buy but the best fighters.
