Circus And Contemporary Dance

Featured Replies

Phare Ponleu Selpak, The Cambodian theatre group are presenting their spectacle, "Distant Haze" at 7pm on 29 January at the Chiangmai College of Arts

Tickets at 200 and 300 baht

"Distant Haze" is a conjuring and acrobatic medley combined with contemporary dance and circus and based round stories from experiences of the Khmer Rouge era.

The group is well established - the current troupe is third generation - and was founded to assist the underprivileged. This is achieved by establishing some school, library facilities and other initiatives; and encouraging and giving hope and purpose particularly to the young.

Their contact details are: 084 707 8801 and 081 111 2838

One particular acrobatic act with two young performers was particularly spectacular and kept one guessing what would happen next. Saturday promises to be a good show for a good cause.

Historically, Cambodia has a well-earned reputation for circus and this troupe has entertained in many countries over the last few years

It is very different from performances from the West. Faster and more daring.

There was a short preview on Tuesday at Informal Northern Thai Group

definitely looking forward to this - thanks

Mainly down to the fact that Thaivisa has a large membership and is a good forum to get events such as these covered

Seats still available and can be bought at the door
