Thailand: Where white losers that can’t get laid go
I can agree with much of what you have written but it is still a business, a job that many do well, they are fun and fun loving and although partying in a good bar is better than working in the fields and brings in more money it can take its toll. I was never one to dip my toe deeply into the sex scene through fear of aids at that time although I had my moments but I enjoyed the bar life in Chiang Mai and struck up a few friendships with bar girls which I considered genuine because I wanted no sexual favours from them. One instance caught my attention when I met a newbie with a college education one year (before I lived here permanently), she was a lovely person. When I returned the next year I met her again at the same bar and bought her a meal and thought we could continue our chatty relationship, we could but I found she had changed considerably, she had become as hard as nails, bitter and disappointed with life, she had paid off her education debt but couldn't find a job matching her credentials and had resigned herself to being an อีตัว or slut, in her own words. Many regard the bar life as temporary, meeting Mr right perhaps, but that happens rarely and before they know it they are 35 and going downhill. They play their part well but rarely do they have any respect for their punters. -

Why do some Farang worry so much about Thailand being too =hot=?
I'm not moaning. I state things exactly how they are. I'm not miserable either, but this is not a good place for either myself or my daughter to live. If you don't understand what actually goes on here, you shouldn't reply. There are thousands of expats here that don't like living here, but do because they have a woman here that won't leave Thailand. Remember, you don't have to read, nor reply, on anything posted here. Unless of course you are wanting to discuss things with an open mind or want to give advice. Why, if you are living on an oil platform, do you feel the need to comment if that's where you spend most of your time/ There are many people that actually live here full time and have no clue of what goes on here daily, because they live in a small village outside population centers and rarely leave the house, nor watch the news. -

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
probably only worried about extra paperwork that the locals will want to see as they possibly might link taxes and visas of expats. I definitely do not have any assessable income IAW Thai revenue dept definition so unless a big change is coming for ALL my only concern will be paperwork to protect my income.- 1

What’s the best area in Thailand for expats to settle for long-term living?
Some posters have a very skewed idea of what Pattaya offers. Yes, there is the bar scene of course. But the majority of Pattaya has none of that, and no doubt many people who live in Pattaya partake in none of that either. I have lived in Pattaya many times, typically 3-6 months at a time. Like other posters who replied, I too have never partaken in the bar or P4P scene. I like Pattaya for its boardwalk for exercise, large shopping malls, restaurants, largevariety of shops etc etc. The only reason why I have never settled in Pattaya is because long-term I prefer a rural location with a garden for my ham radio antennas 🙂 -

Latest developments and discussion of recent events in the Ukraine War
Ukraine may be given private dispensation by the UK and US to fire long-range Storm Shadow missiles into Russia without making it public until the first one is fired. Western diplomats are poised to sign off on the decision but could hold back from making an official announcement at the UN next week. The Times understands there is wariness about publicising the move in advance to alert Russia. https://www.thetimes.com/uk/defence/article/us-uk-storm-shadow-missiles-ukraine-russia-mqg02nhsc https://archive.ph/kOw5A -

Whole House Water Filtration .. Anyone w/ Experience/Advice?
I have lived in Thai houses and condos with big windows and had to keep my curtains closed all the time. In my house I don’t have curtains. I have installed dropped ceilings for LED light strips and all my lights are smart coloured wifi with voice control so I can fine tune the lighting in my house. I do have 80m2 on my 3rd floor with 360 degree views of countryside and 120m2 of outdoor space on the North side of my house. We commissioned a soil survey and our structural engineer used that data to determine the foundations needed. He completed full structural drawings which were used to draw up detailed plans based on my plans. I then employed teams to build each part of the build. I did all the insulation, networking and installed the Energy Recovery Ventilation system. Better to have security and not need it than need it and not have it.
