haveaniceday Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I believe that you can renew 60 days prior, can I let it lapse 1 week then renew the first 1 year license to a 5 year one? Not driving in that week of course. Will be done in Bangkok, Mo chit office.
JusMe Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I went from the one year to five year license about two and a half weeks after the one year had expired. It wasn't deliberate, I just thought it was the end of November, until I was pulled over and a cop pointed out to me that my licence had actually expired. I was lucky, and got to drive off without a fine, explaining that I was going to renew it at the end of the month. This was the Rayong LTD. Exchanging from one year to five year was easy and simple, just few baht for the new photo and licence. Make sure you've got all the necessary photocopies.
gotlost Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Renewal of your DL can be done at any LTD just not at the one you originally applied to.
Spoonman Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 You can re-new your 1yr temp licence to the full 5yr licence up to 12 months after expiry as a straight up renewal, if outside of this 12 month window you will need to do the theory tests again if you don't have an IDP.
