Mobile Phone Networks

Featured Replies

I'm going to buy a SIM card to put in a smartphone. What network best serves Bangkok? And best value for money network? I am wanting to use it for the 3G internet as well.

How much does a SIM cost and then how much is the top up and what do you get for you money? Is it easy for a farang to get a pre paid contract SIM?

Network choice is up to you... My mates and I all use 'Happy' on the DTAC network...

You can buy a new sim anywhere... 7/11, bookstores, newsagents... 99 Baht with 35 Baht included or 199 Baht with 50 Baht included and 50Baht/month x 5 Months to other DTAC numbers... calls and messages are very cheap... 1 or 2 Baht a minute... 3.2 baht/SMS

'3G' in Thailand is still pretty much EVDO over GSM, so not 3G in the sense you might be used to...

Cheers,

Daewoo

Do you already have a smartphone? What is the make/model? This will determine which 3G provider should be used.
