Featured Replies

Coming to Udon Thani with wife an d6 yo daughter.

satyed at a hotel a few years ago, next to shopping centre and thought it was crap! S/pool <deleted>, rooms crap an dbathroom dirty, I wiped my feet on way out!

Doies anyone have any recomendations on this place:- Charoen Hotel, 549 Phosri Road?

The pool looks Ok?

Cheers

Google Udon Thani Hotels found some really nice ones that I had not heard of before that I will be trying next time in Thailand

"what is the best" i think your post is supposed to read. yeah the centara hotel near the shopping center is

not the best right now due to all the construction going-on outside. the charoen is also a kind of old staple.

a "new" hotel is the prajacktra near the park but probably also a little pricey but you did say the best.

The Chareon is OK for around 900 Baht pn. Its clean but a bit old. Keep away from the Centara its a building site

The Centara is rubbish ,dont confuse this with the rest of the Centara chain .. they bought it approx 2 years ago and have not spent a bhart, old - tired - tatty got food poisoning there last year.....the Charoen is OK if booking direct a junior suite is excellent vale for money....have a browse around trip advisor.

Agree with most of the others on the thread. I stayed at the Charoen last summer and found it okay. The pool was acceptable, though breakfast is the usual bland Thai fare. There is the lively Yellowbird disco across the car park. Be aware though that this hotel is a good ten minute walk into town (or about a 30-40 baht tuk tuk ride). There is also a new shopping centre that can be reached on foot if you turn left out of the hotel and head towards the market (again a good walk though).

Thomas' Udon Thai house is a great little resort just out of town .

Very reasonable rates ,good clean rooms and a nice pool.

The food is pretty good too.

Thomas the owner is a German chap who is a really nice bloke.

Hope this helps,
