For the "Channel and SSID"

mine is written SSID where u put the SSID

but the other attachment which i have taken from www.thelordofwireless.com ..

it says ESSID .. why is mine SSID and theirs ESSID ?

whats yours ? ESSID or SSID ? whats the difference ?

Dunno...mine says ESSID but the screen doesn't look like that. I think there are a few slightly different models with different firmware kicking around.

Don't worry about it I'm pretty sure its the same thing.

Who cares what some other website says? If your UI says "SSID", which most do, then go with it. Just two tips, change the default SSID from "SMC" to something, anything different, and disable SSID broadcast. Another tip would be to use WPA-PSK, and limit WiFi access by MAC address.

Another open network for the wardrivers to discover while eating their carry out somtam!

If you wake up in the morning and there are chalk marks on your building then do follow the advice in the previous post asap!

If not then follow the advice asap anyway before they chalk your building as a free wireless internet access point!

How would this be an open network? He's been advised to use WPA encryption, turn off the ssid and apply MAC filtering.
