I prefer the bottle as the wipes are on the small size.

It's effective and doesn't smell too bad.

A good one to use is Johnsons Baby oil, it has Mosie repellent in it.

I use 100 neet deet for repelling, although I care more about stopping the itching when i do get bitten.

I can say this gadget is absolutely essential and every farang should have one....

I use the insect repellent that comes in green bottles and contains DEET . You can get them everywhere. For the night I use a net if available and some burning coils. It is important to stop the mossies from sticking as they spread both malaria and Dengue. I use some cortisone stuff on the stings and on Kho Tao I even have to take antihistamine tablets as my reaction to the stings are really strong. You can get all you need in the local pharmacy.

I believe you are referring to the ones that create some kind of ultrasonic sound, and they are a waste of money.

For the bedroom I use an electric unit where you put a blue square tab in it. The electric heats it and the pad produces a vapor. Works really well and have been using one for several years.

yes its easy to buy in the uk, from specialist stores on the web such as:

The products i have sent over come from the Nomad Medical range.

the 100% stuff is powerful and smells a little. its works though, direct onto skin can be slightly greasy. very effective for me on clothing.

They do a 50% as well which is much nicer to use, but the mozzies are not that bothered about it. In my case especially when there is some fine English claret to be had

Lemongrass oil works wonders - some find the small a bit too strong, but at least it is 100% natural. It lasts for a few hours, but it is cheap, and very effective. Comes in spray bottles.

I worked in an area of New Zealand that had masses of sand flies during the day and mozzies at night. None of the comercial brands could cut it. If your shirt pulled out by half an inch the little black buggers would be in, just like little hot needles. Bands of them.

The man that I worked with had ' been there and done that ' and he had a simple repellant made from 50% baby oil and 50 % disinfectant ( of your choice ). You have to shake it every time you use it to mix the stuff up but it worked a treat and the baby oil seemed to overide the smell of the disifectant, it smelt quite nice.

If not for this stuff we would have been spending a fortune on small bottles of stuff that did not work very well as there were literally black clouds of these flying nasties everywhere.

Have at some time tried practically all the repellants available in LOS. The best I found was in a slim white/palegreen bottle, forget the name, with roll-on dispenser. Very effective and you don’t have to cover all the exposed skin, a few dabs here and there, but very expensive.

Beachcombing ain’t what it used to be and find OFF good value for money and easy to apply just spray no messy fingers.

Yes I go along with spray the room every evening. We usually do it just before going out so the smell is gone by the time we come back.

Is the room spray safe, I have my doubts.

Citronella works on the skin and you only need a couple of drops.

Yes, Citronella oil is good, esp the one made by a Thai hospital, look for it at small booths in shopping malls.

my friend in udon says lao dong ya local thai home brew works very well

I wonder if it would be easy to make a lemongrass oil/baby oil mixture. Maybe it could be crushed like som tham. We have lemongrass growing all over the property.
