Buying Domain Name - Already Taken

Featured Replies

The domain name I;m looking at is taken. Coincidently by a small thai operation that doesn't seem to be doing much.

How to go about acquiring the name??

Contact them and give them an offer.

Find their contact information using "Whois".

Follow the URL of the name it may lead to a parking provider that will also offer buy/sell/auction facilities.

Or-whois as suggested.

1K what currency?

Ask them first, with a pitch something like "I already have an fairly good domain name for my ----,however I have seen that you are not using ----- which I quite like as an alternative, is it for sale? If so how much?

Hopefully gibes the impression you are interested but not too much. Some huge prices for domain names are still occurring www.dnjournal.com/ytd-sales-charts.htm

1ooo baht maybe if you are very lucky or they are very much in need, but if you really want it I think it's a miserable offer.

Depending on the domain and it's market value they will or either cry or laugh, so prepare minimum 100 USD better, that's kind of basic for a domain that someone wants especially a good .com tld.

Without knowing the domain it's hard to give an estimate.
