What Are You Watching?

Someone recommended a Danish TV crime series. Got it downloaded and boy is it brilliant. It is similar to PRIME SUSPECT but in its own way unique. A female detective is moving to Sweden but a murder suddenly stops her going. Then there is politics. Then the grieving family. This is the first crime series to have me, in one episode, on the edge of my seat, enjoying the lilt of a foreign language and crying.

The Danish title is FORBRYDELSEN which translated means, The Crime. But the BBC call it THE KILLING. 20 week investigation over 20 episodes. Brilliant. And I am only on episode 3. Bravo Denmark.

Rarely watch TV these days. Go out at the weekend to watch the football, and just download everything else to watch.

So, I suppose I'm just watching British drama and entertainment shows that I'd have watched at 'home'. And, of course, any films that I have downloaded.

For news, I don't rate BBC World, though. Al Jazeera is excellent, and it mostly has British presenters.

Also waiting anxiously for next season of True Blood that airs June 12 =D

I think most of us only watch legitimate DVDs of good quality productions such as Dexter, The Wire, True Blood, Family Guy, 30 Rock and Entourage. smile.gif

Just those who don't know how to download and watch bit torrents....

Im not sure if i have chalong or rawai cable tv but whatever it is, its almost 100 channels of <deleted>! It just seems to be csi, law and order and flashpoint all day everyday. I have found myself watching a lot of Granada TV since that started. Rod stewart performs daily, 2 year old corras, Jeremy kyle, bit of Ant and Dec. The only thing I really enjoyed was come dine with me but the series has finnished already. Not to worry, laptops connected to the t.v and I can stream anything, but I was wondering if anyone watches tv via a slingbox? Im on my way to the UK now and was thinking about getting one.

Just dumped True Visions after six months. Apart from footie and Disney (for my daughter!) I found I wasn't watching anything.

I have a large selection of UK comedy DVDs plus lots of downloads to keep me happy.

Thanx viewers. I was hoping someone would post a series a bit more unusual. We have easy access to American stuff; legally or torrent. Millienium from Sweden is terrific. The Killing from Denmark is above everything.

How about something from France, NZ, Australia, Germany, Canada, Holland........?

Another very popular Danish serie was Rejseholdet. I heard from Australian friends that it was shown in Australia as "Unit One" and got rave reviews. Not sure if it was just subtitled or dubbed though.

Starring in the serie is Mads Mikkelsen known from his role as the gangster Le Chiffre in the Bond movie Casino Royale.

I used to watch UFC. But not on at present or rather scrambled.

Love to see "Aircrash Investigation", "I (almost) got away with it" and "Banged up abroad".

But most funny is "Pawn Stars" with Rick Harrison and his family: the fat, stupid son Corey (Big Hoss) and even more stupid Chumley. And the ignorant father "Old Man". Almost the modern Addams Family.

It's explained on here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent Basically you need to download a bit torrent client (free), then use a bit torrent search. Download the bit torrent and then open it with the client and it downloads the program. Sometimes you get corrupted files, mostly they are fine. Then you need to download VLC, a free media player and it plays the file you downloaded. It also play MP3's and other media files. Sometimes the files come in .rar format and you need an unrar program (also free) to make it into a single video file. According to the US it's illegal and you can be prosecuted in the US. But it's spread worldwide. The genie is out of the bottle, so to speak...

I downloaded The Killing episode1 and 2 and got as far as the credits. It says it's based on the Danish series... It's in English and not the Danish original I guess...

+1 for Pawn Stars. Unfortunately I've already watched all 3 available seasons so now waiting for season 4. Oh, and apparently Chumley is actually a pretty smart guy in reality. He was on Jay Leno not long ago, nice and funny guy actually.

Others I watched and liked (in no particular order)

  • My name is Earl
  • Trailer Park Boys
  • American Pickers
  • Fawlty Towers
  • Little Britain
  • Red Dwarf (even if it starts to look a little dated)
  • The Office (UK version only, US version is just not funny, sorry)
  • The Sopranos
  • Wheeler Dealers
  • The Simpsons

If we talk movies you might want to check out the Pusher trilogy (trailer) by Nicolas Winding Refn. It's not too difficult to find with English subtitles.

Thank's for the info The Killing is sub title in English so maybe the one you looked at was dubbed or a copy if you get a chance to watch it is well worth it, another good program was Spiral which is a French cop show is also very good the 2nd series has just finished in the UK that is also sub title.

They're doing an American remake of the The Killing on AMC, you don't have to watch it with subtitles or dubs if you don't want.

Am currently watch Game of Thrones and The Borgias. Both are great, Game of Thrones especially. Also looking forward to the new season of Breaking Bad
