Security at Suvarnabhumi Airport beefed up

BANGKOK, 12 May 2011 (NNT) – Security at Suvarnabhumi International Airport will be maximized in order to ensure the safety of passengers and enhance their confidence after many airports and airlines around the world have tightened their security measures.

Suvarnabhumi Airport Spokesperson Wilaiwan Natwilai stated that although the security at the airport remains at the second highest among the four levels and the measure focusing on intelligence and inspection of airlines will be intense to ensure passengers’ confidence.

The spokesperson announced that luggage inspection will also be conducted more frequently; elaborating that one out of every 10 bags will be inspected randomly, up from the earlier ratio of one in every 15.

Many airports and airlines worldwide are tightening security measures for fear of revenge and terrorism in the wake of the death of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

I hope security extends to preventing minibuses parking up on the northbound lane of the east-side access road. For the OBL wannabe's, you can park up, sit back and relax and when you have your target, simply open the door and fire your RPG at planes as they land and taxi. It's less than 400m, clean shot.

I was amazed at they allowed cars and minibuses to park on the hard shoulder on the main access road (from Bangkok) but that seems to have been stopped. Now they are waiting on the southern access road instead.

But according to many ThaiVisa members, OBL is alive and well.

Accordingly to Al-Qaeda's "Press Dept" he is dead. Hang on, isn't Al Q's press dept the same as the US State Office. Oh god I'm confused....but notably still alive and buying food and fuel at increased prices. Interesting.

But according to many ThaiVisa members, OBL is alive and well.

How could they possibly know? Idiots!
