Non-immigrant Visa Question.

USA

i make money on the internet.

i want to marry thai girl and get a longer visa if posible.

i dont see any non-immiration Visa's where i'd fit.

i see only the retirement visa and the 1 year marriage visa which seems to require a work permit to go along with it:

"If an alien is the spporter, he must submit financial evidence, proof of employment, work permit and tax receipts."

it seems like they are talking only about thai tax receipts, employment in thailand, etc. they dont use the wording "financial evidence OR", but just list all four together.

thanks.

side question: is there any circumstance where the thai government would demand that i pay them taxes on my income, even though i am not employed in thailand, but live in thailand?

if this question is stupid please note i am from the USA, where tax laws are incredibly unfair, for instance i've been gone for 2 years and they are still collecting 33% of my income for having the great honor of being born on their soil.

Believe you will find that under the broad Thai law that any money coming into Thailand could be subject to tax but in practice only that coming in during the year earned is normally subject to income tax.

If you marry a Thai you can obtain a multi entry O non immigrant visa in Penang that will allow stays of up to 90 days for a little over one year.

To extend and not have to make border runs you would require local employment at 40k per month or have 400k in a Thai bank account with a record of transfers from overseas (which they will assume means you are employed overseas).

only penang? what about singapore, laos, etc?

do you have to be over 50 for "o" visa?

Most area Consulates will expect someone of your age to obtain an extension of stay so a multi entry visa valid for one year is unlikely to be issued. Most will issue a single entry however.

A non immigrant O visa has no age restrictions. The over 50 is for O-A or retirement extension of stay.

Really? Sounds like you need to get a new CPA. Or are you not talking about earned income?
