The vast majority of my work involves comparing tender documents with actual contract award documents and making sure that the agreed changes are incorporated.

For many years I have been using my laptop to do this with a horizontal split, minimising the tool bars gives me about 15 lines of each document for review. This has been a laborius exercise so I bought myself a 23" monitor. Now I can have a vertical split with the documents side by side at around 85% of actual size.

My question is; my laptop is off to one side and set back from the monitor but it is annoying seeing out of the corner of my eye the active laptop screen.

Does anyone know how the laptop screen can be switched off but still maintain the screen content on the monitor.

My laptop is a Sony Vaio - VGN CS26S.

According to Sony's support website you can redirect the video to whatever display you wish by hitting the Fn+F7 keys.

Go to Control Panel > Display Properties > Settings > Advanced, or you can try using the function keys as suggested.

Key combo:

Fn+F7 or Fn+F8

Don't know which combo your Vaio uses, refer to the User's Manual.

With the lid closed how do you type on the keys?
