Dual Language On Tv

Featured Replies

Hi,

All the Thai TV channels are on the Thai language.

I understand that certain programs, like English movies,

news, then the English version can be received by using a FM radio.

Is it true ? If so, what are the FM frequencies, what time and what

channels and when ?

Please kindly advise. Thank you.

Moved for better exposure.

IIRC FM radio used to be used a long way back to provide an English soundtrack for some TV programs. With the advance of technology, this is no longer used.

Nowadays reasonable modern Stereo TVs (like 10 years old or younger) have a 'language select' button normally labeled " I - II " where you can select between two different languages, if the broadcaster supports it.

The payoff is, the broadcaster can either support stereo sound, or 2 channel mono, so it isn't always available. Also most broadcasters that do have the dual channel support mostly have the same Thai on both.

There are however a couple of channels that have life translation of news broadcasts, so just browse around. (Channel 7 and Nation channel I think)

Dual language required the German Stereo system the last time I checked (but that was years ago - but after the FM broadcasting of the 1960-80's).
