I don't think Thonglor are any better or worse than most of the other "big" vets. It really depends on the actual vet you get when you go and their level of experience. Also when we went there they sold us some medication which I later found out was a little on the expensive side.

The only vet I trust nearly 100% (and we have been to about 6 different ones in the last couple of years) is an older guy in Naklua. The vets is on the left hand side just after a small soi about 200 metres before the Naklua wet fish market - heading down into Naklua. Sorry I do not have his name or phone number to hand but can get it for you if you want.

Unfortunately my gf does not like his attitude/manner very much (and he did load a price once) but he does speak pretty good English.

Thonglor on sukhumvit road just past the lights as you go past big C hading towards bangkok hospital, best vet I have been to, they have many different vets who specialise in various animals. Only place I trust to take my birds.

As for a petshop, Theppasit road market at the weekends sell various different pets.

I see many replies and suggestions have already been made but I will post my 2 baht worth.

A couple years back my dog jumped out of my truck and broke her back leg in two places. I took her to several vets in Pattaya and they all told me they had to amputate the leg and the cost was up to 12,000 - 15,000 baht. Upon a refferal I went to Muang Ake Central Veterinary Hospital on the west side of Sukimvit just south of Tesco Lotus on Tepprisit. The woman doctor there speaks perfect English and went to school in Europe somewhere. She fixed my dog's leg with 4 screws at a price of about 8,000 baht. Now, you would never know my dog ever had a problem, she is 100% normal. Runs, walks, jumps etc with all 4 legs.

There are two women and one man there who I have dealt with and they are always professional and all speak good English. I live north of Pattaya but it is worth the drive for me, I wouldn't take my dog to any other vet after getting to know the people there.

They are open 24 hours. Their number is 038-233-200

I don't understand people saying that Thonglor is the best veterinary clinic. These are the same people who think that the more you pay the better you get. This is easy thinking. I went once there and I won't go again I was totally disappointed. Overpriced, unfriendly, no profesionel, I absolutely not recommend it.

I've been few times to the one street Chayapruek (south Jomtien), price are correct, staff speak english and are nice. So far for small thing like vaccin, cleaning small wound or food supply I'm satisfied. Now I don't know for more serious matter.

The last clinic I know is on Sukumvit soy 53 (in front pattaya klang) beetween soi 4 and 6. The price there is really good. There is several doctor speaking english. I went for a kitten i found on the street cruch by a motorbike, xray + medecine cost me 300 bath. I would recomand to go there if you have little money moreover they are open 24/7 (need to be confirmed).

I don't know what is the best clinic, but here is my personal experience, I hope it can help someone.

Pattaya Animal Hospital on Pattaya Tai (2nd vet down on the right hand side), may not be up to European standards but the vet is very very good. He understands very well the problems animals have and how to treat them. His English is very good and I also find that my dogs were always calm when visiting him in his surgery.

Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow as my dog has to go in and have a cruciate ligament replacement.

My wife called there today and asked about the price for xray the hip of our german sheperd dog include injection for sleeping. I was shocked about the answer: 2.000 Baht!!! SUPER EXPENSIVE!!! At the Siam Country Pet Hospital we paid for exactly the same 550 Baht (300 Baht Xray, 250 THB injection) for an other of our dogs. Problem is they have only a very old xray.

But this price is unbelievable!!! And this is NOT a FARANGPRICE!!!
